Samaritans Bedford
The Samaritans are there, day or night, for anyone who’s struggling to cope, who needs someone to listen without judgement or pressure.
There for anyone who needs someone, the Samaritans offer emotional support confidentially to anyone who is going through a crisis or thinking of taking their own life. They are always available to answer the call from people who really need someone to talk to, as well as providing face to face help at local branches. Marion Clarke, an SDC employee, has been a Samaritan in Bedford for the last 10 years. Marion says “Of all the charity work I have done, I was originally drawn to becoming a Samaritan when a boy at my children’s school took his own life at the age of fifteen which devastated the entire community. Since joining Samaritans I have learnt so much about life, society, and people. It is extremely rewarding to be able to help those who need to reach out”. It costs around £20,000 to keep the Bedford branch running each year and so your backing will go a long way to ensuring the Samaritans can continue their life saving work.
